Blows to self-esteem affect perceptions of other groups.

People are more likely to experience feelings of prejudice towards an outgroup following a blow to their self-esteem, say researchers from the University of California, Davis. Lead study author Jeffrey Sherman, PhD, says that the connection between self-esteem and feelings of prejudice is a well-established one, but the latest research reveals specific details behind what drives stereotyping.
